“I miss Aisha being here.”
-Patricia G. Lucas
Not nearly as much as I miss you being here, Gram.
As somewhat of a joke, I’ve been celebrating birthday week. I did so last year and I think a few of my friends did (some went as far as a month of celebration). My birthday week started on Saturday. I actually didn’t do much on Saturday, I worked, went to church and came home and started on a mound of homework.
On Sunday, Joshua and I went to Bloomington. Cherry, my cousin (the only family member on my dad’s side I talk to) graduated from beauty school (which I mentioned previously). It was good seeing her and one of her sisters (my other cousin) Ruthie. Cherry’s mom (her adopted mom) was very happy to see me and quasi freaked out. It was nice.
Kayleigh got there with Kaidenn at about the same time we did. We left shortly after, to go to my mom’s for my birthday celebration.
My brother, Jess and the kids (I use to say girls, but now that we Braylen, I’ve switched to “kids”) were already there. Gwen and Megan came rushing at me for a hug and Keirstyn went rushing at Joshua for a hug. Then she went back to the table for her pizza. That little punk, hugging her favorite person and forgetting me
. Joshua enjoyed it. Kaidenn and Braylen were able to meet and eat each other’s hands. My big sister (BBBS) & her husband came by with salads and presents. We all sat around and ate and chatted. I blew some candles out and opened some presents too.
The girls were goofy and the babies were adorable. I got a lot of painted pictures from my nieces, I’m looking forward to putting them up. After the party ended, Joshua and I drove back up to Indy. It was great to see my family, eat Kaidenn’s face and have my nieces choose to sit on my laps while they ate. It was also sweet to see Gwen get so upset and cry because we embarrassed her about her boyfriend. Megan smelled like sweat too. Where does the time go? How is that they’re growing up so fast?
On Monday evening, Joshua, gRegor and I went to BDs for a scrumptious free (for me at least, yay free birthday meals!) meal. I ate two bowls and wanted to go for a third, pretty impressive, I know. Always delicious food, I wish I ate there more often. After dinner, we tried to find Ricky and Ian‘s #highfive party, but to no avail (at least for Joshua and I). We went to the mall and I had an asian lady rip the skin off my face. After that, Joshua and I went to church for a bit. I went home later and homework and slept.
Today I had a test at noon, so I thought that called for Monday-birthday-chick-fil-a-pre-test-sandwich. Before LOST, I Got KFC, whhhhat? Don’t judge me, it’s my birthday.
Tomorrow, the Wilsons are having a quasi meatloaf birthday party. We’re also going to play Clue-The Office edition. Mrs. Wilson is making her famous meatloaf and forcing me to open presents (I don’t like opening presents, it makes me feel awkward).
Thursday night, I believe Joshua and I are going to Bdubs, if I’m not too exhausted from the long day of classes/poetry reading I’m going to.
Friday is Thai Cafe. I tried to make a reservation, but they don’t take them. So, good luck seating 13 people on a Friday evening. Pool, drinks and maybe some dancing after ward. We’ll see how tired I am.
Saturday is still up in the air, but some plans may be forming.
Sometimes, it’s just nice to get all of that out. I’ve also been reading my grandma’s journals and it prompts me to want to write more. I know I forget so much, there are things she wrote that I don’t remember doing.
Happy Isha Birthday Week! <3
Can everyone send me a someecard for my birthday? It would really make my day.
They have some pretty funny birthday ones. They’re really all I want for my birthday.
I have everything else I want.
A Little More, by Skillet use to be my favorite song. I would listen to it while I walked to high school, when I took thoughtful walks (which I did a lot). Josh (not JT), my old boyfriend from Sullivan and I would listen to it on our long road trips back and forth between Sullivan. It was an iconic song for Sylva, Andy and I. It is one of those songs, that when I hear it, I’m taken back to autumn nights and friendships I thought would last forever. We played so many songs on repeat and they became our background music.
It’s a beautiful song, my favorite of Skillet’s.
Love is indestructable, so take a hold
sometimes hard to find a reason good enough.
I’ll stand beside you, never leave through it all.Faith will bring a way to the impossible.
Just one more day, one more day.
Oh, let the world crash, love can take it.
Let the world come crashing down.
Oh, let the world crash love can take it.
Love can take a little, love can give a little more. You can find me, you can find me, you can find me, anywhere.
Take a look over your shoulder, I’ll be standing there.
I had a type writer for a short while when I was younger. I was probably 8-11 years old. I can’t remember where we got it. Probably from Goodwill or my grandma. It was in this case, a suit case, but a type writer case. There wasn’t a lot of ink with it so it ran out fairly quickly, we probably ended up throwing it away, unfortunately. I would type on those pieces of paper that had the perforated sides with the small holes down the side. I’d like to get a type writer again.
I haven’t thought of this memory in a long time. I hope I can unlock more items from my childhood.
When I get overworked, tired and lonely, I feel so nostalgic.
Saturdays, sometimes are slow days at work. I’m sitting on the children’s side and it’s empty. That’s pretty rare in the afternoon on this side. I’ve been studying for my religions test off and on, but overall, I’m pretty sleepy. I know I need to perk up, because I have a lot to get done tonight school wise.
I’m fairly certain I’ve already talked about going to Bloomington tomorrow, but I’m going to go through it again, I need a break from religions. Joshua and I are heading down to Bloomington tomorrow for a few things. My cousin Cherry graduated from beauty school, so we’re attending her grad party. Kayleigh and Rachel are suppose to be there too, so it’s a bit of a mini reunion. I’m looking forward to seeing Cherry and Martha (her mom). It’s been awhile since I’ve seen either of them. After Cherry’s grad party, Josh and I (Kayleigh/Kaidenn, maybe too) are heading to my mom’s for a pizza party in honor of my birth. Jessica, Matt and the kids will be there also. As well as my big sister (from BBBS) and her husband–who I haven’t seen since my grandma’s funeral. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and relaxing a bit after working dillengtly on school work.
I got a few coupons in my email for free food (BDs, Bdubs, Stir Crazy). I’m looking forward to using them at some point.
On the day before my birthday (Friday 26th), I’m heading to Thai Cafe in Broadripple for birthday dinner with friends. Quite a few people have confirmed, so I’m very excited to be blessed with love on my day. After dinner, I plan on having some drinks, pool or dancing throughout Broadripple. I’m still unsure of what I want to do on Saturday, but it will be nice to just be able to relax for a few days.
I would like to go on some sort of vacation this year. Every time I start to plan something, I back out because I feel like the most logical thing for me to do is to save money. I was thinking about a vacation sometime around Memorial Day. However, I’m not sure I want to miss the flurry of activites surrounding the Indy 500. Although it causes some driving pains, Speedway in May is exciting. I would have quite a few days to work with for a vacation there, but I may end up saving my money. Josh mentioned making a trip to Boston and NY in the fall (we both have family/friends up there). We’ll see. Lots of time to plan and decide.
I’m working on becoming a Speedway substitute teacher. If it all works out, I may be able to sub on Mondays and Wednesdays. I’m looking forward to the extra bit of money and the experience. I know it’s going to be more of a load with my already loaded schedule, but it’ll work out, it always does.
Now, back to your regular scheduled programming (unless I fall asleep).
